Why pressure changes everything

A single relaxed reaction and a reaction under a tightening clock are two different skills. In the standard test you have five calm goes and we keep the best. Here you get one life and a limit that keeps shrinking, so the moment your reaction wobbles even slightly, the run ends. That is much closer to a real game or a real start line, where there are no retries.

The interesting thing is how people fail. Most do not get slower. They get jumpy. As the limit drops, the temptation to pre-empt the green grows, and a false start ends the run just as surely as a slow tap. Learning to stay loose while the pressure climbs is the whole game.

Frequently asked questions

How does the game work?
Wait for green, then tap. Each round you must beat a time limit that starts at 500 ms and drops by about 18 ms every round. React in time and you advance; react too slowly, or tap before green, and the run ends. Your score is the number of rounds you cleared.
What is a good score?
Most people clear somewhere between 8 and 14 rounds before the limit gets faster than they can reliably react. Getting past 16 means you are holding a sub-220 ms reaction under pressure, genuinely sharp. Your best is saved in your browser so you can chase it.
How is this different from the normal test?
The standard reaction test measures your relaxed, best-of-five reaction. The game measures something the test cannot: consistency under rising pressure. Plenty of people with a fast single reaction crack when the clock tightens.
